Privacy Statement

Thank you for visiting the Center for Design Innovation’s web site. CDI is a non-profit, state government institution of higher education, founded in 2007 by UNC General Administration as a multi-campus research center of the UNC system founded to generate knowledge and solutions across disciplinary and institutional boundaries. The CENTER for DESIGN INNOVATION works with our founding partners, Winston-Salem State University, UNC School of the Arts, and Forsyth Technical Community College, to nurture a collaborative design research community.

The Internet plays a significant role in CDI operations in key areas:  communications with constituents, relations with the public, and capturing and sharing knowledge. The CDI relies on the Internet to deliver information via the Web, Social Media, Mobile Apps and other tools. The functions of the CDI may at times involve the collection and dissemination of technical, economic, scholarly, and, in some cases, personal information.

Some personal information, such as students’ educational and employees’ personnel records, is largely protected from disclosure by law. Other information may be protected by more general laws, regulations, or policies. With respect to the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information, the intent of the CDI and its partner universities is to comply with applicable federal law, state law, UNC system policies, and CDI policies. Please note that state public records law requires the University to disclose, to anyone who asks, any records that the university has made or received in the course of conducting state business unless there is a specific legal basis for maintaining the privacy of the requested records.
